My passion for social media was born out of a lifelong love for creativity. My childhood was filled with creative projects: designing flyers in Adobe Illustrator, writing chapter books, and starting a blog in middle school. Then in high school, I created an Instagram profile with the intention of raising awareness about human trafficking, and started posting on it religiously.

The time I spent working on that page taught me many of the values I’ve carried into my career. It taught me the skill of listening before sharing, especially when dealing with sensitive subjects. It taught me the importance of building a community instead of an audience, because that’s where real support and care are found. It taught me how to plan and manage accounts when things in the world and the algorithm are rapidly changing. Most importantly, it taught me that I could use social media as a powerful tool for good, to bring attention to what matters.

Since then, my career has taken several different forms. I’ve worked in-house at a company, managing all of their digital communications. I’ve worked fully freelance, which allowed me to work with and learn from a variety of industries and types of brands. And now I work at my church, where I can bring awareness about something I’m deeply passionate about and cultivate community in person as well as online. On top of that, I’m still taking on freelance projects for small businesses, and that’s where you come in.
